RAC - Recording Artists Coalition

RAC is a nonprofit, non-partisan coalition formed to represent the interests of recording artists with regard to legislative issues in which corporate and artists’ interests conflict, and to address other public policy debates that come before the music industry.

A website is like a house with a million entrances: the front door is simply one among many ways to get in. A good website will accommodate visitors who choose alternate routes. Here are three guidelines for enhancing usability for users who enter your site at interior pages:

Tell users their arrival point, and how they can proceed to other parts of the site by including these three design elements on every single page:

Company name or logo in upper left corner

Direct, one-click link to the homepage

Search (preferably in the upper right corner)

Orient the user relative to the rest of the website. If the site has hierarchical information architecture, a breadcrumb trail is usually the best way to do this. Also, include links to other resources that are directly relevant to the current location. Don’t bury the user in links to all site areas or to pages that are unrelated to their current location.

Don’t assume that users have followed a drill-down path to arrive at the current page. They may not have seen information that was contained on higher-level pages.

<META NAME="robots" CONTENT="noindex">

The Problem with Music

Impressionante.

Delphi Forums a pagamento

Advertising on the Internet has not been a windfall for anyone. You know it, and we know it. More importantly you have proven it by ignoring almost all Delphi Forums advertising efforts.

Internet advertising is interruptive and distracting yet, for an Internet communication and content company, it has been the traditional means of generating revenue, regardless of how inappropriate or counterintuitive it is.

If you walked into the grocery store, in a hurry to purchase milk, bread, and eggs, and a stock boy grabbed you by the arm and kept distracting you from your list, instead trying to sell you fertilizer, you’d be furious. You would eventually quit coming to the store, ignore the help, or whack the stock boy. […]

We can no longer continue to rely on advertising. Our community does not click on the banner ads that we attract (not that we blame you). Our community does not open or respond to email marketing. Advertising on the Internet has evolved into a bad idea.

Amen!
