Ho aggiunto alla mia rete casalinga un Wireless Access Point, e al mio portatile una Wireless PC Card. Ci ho dovuto litigare un poco a causa di un conflitto con un hardware imposto; risolto il quale, tutto ha funzionato in un minuto.

David segnala un fenomenale pezzo di Clay Shirky dal titolo “Broadcast Institutions, Community Values” e io non resisto alla tentazione di citartene un pezzetto illuminante:

What they fail to understand is that the internet is strongly edited, but the editorial judgment is applied at the edges, not the center, and it is applied after the fact, not in advance. Su Infoworld la notiziona: Il software in affitto non piace per niente, e dopo i tests in Australia, Francia e Nuova Zelanda, l’idea è stata abbandonata. Colpa di quei fessi dei clienti, secondo Microsoft:

“A large enough percentage of these customers did not realize that the product would expire at the end of the subscription period,” Wilkinson said. “A lot of people were attracted to the price point and thought they had just scored a bargain.”

Nota giustamente TechDirt: se non hanno capito, non sarà per la cattiva spiegazione? Oppure spiegandolo bene non aderiva nessuno?
